Huxtropy

Long ago, a trickster traveller named Felavusix fooled four powerful entities from the Elemental Chaos into an endless game of cards. Having trapped them, he enacted a ritual to draw their elemental power into his own cards. Learn to wield the huxtropy deck as an arcane implement, or as a weapon using an actual deck of cards for damage (instead of dice!)

With feats, a ranger reskin known as the deckslinger, the gamblers pact warlock, and a new paragon path, Huxtropy includes everything you need to play a card-wielding character. You'll also find backstory for the elemental gamblers, rules to play the actual gambling game of huxtropy, how to read a fortune with a huxtropy deck, and more.

Download a free preview of Huxtropy and learn more about the Elemental Crux line from www.Silent7Seven.com. You can also go to the website to listen to episode 001 of the 7cast, which contains design and development information from the author.

Upon purchase, you will receive download links for three files: The full-color version of the book; a black-and-white printer-friendly version of the book; and a separate file for all the power cards!

For use with Dungeons & Dragons 4E.

The mechanics and/or assumptions of this product go far enough beyond the core game to challenge your 4E comfort zone.

Huxtropy is a Fourth Edition D&D product that incorporates a deck of playing cards into a random, chaotic magic system that adds a new layer of fun and randomness into playing a spellcaster. One criticism I've seen of Fourth Edition D&D is that [...]

This was something I was already interested in creating for my steampunk campaign so this saved me valuable time. I changed the damage to necrotic, poison, radiant, and psychic keywords since I didn't like the "elemental" aspect, but I apprec [...]

This is an interesting concept that with this implementation I would definitely allow into my game for players, but not something I'm likely to highlight as a key point in my game setting. The mechanics seem balanced, but don't expect a new clas [...]

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
