  • Judge Dredd » The Lion's Den (part 1)

Mega-City One, 2138 ad. Home to 72 million citizens, this urban hell is situated along the east coast of post-apocalyptic North America. Resources are stretched, crime is rampant, and only the Judges — empowered to dispense instant justice — can stop total anarchy. Toughest of them all was JUDGE DREDD — he was the law! But he is now presumed dead after a shuttle explosion, and Justice Dept is seeking help from Brit-Cit...
  • Survival Geeks » Lord of the Ringers (part 1)

Somewhere in the outer limits of space/time, plunging through the planes of reality, is what looks like a regular suburban two-up two-down, but it is in fact powered by misfiring transdimensional technology. Inside live sci-fi obsessives Clive, Rufus and Simon, plus new reluctant housemate Sam and pet Cthulhu Howard: explorers on the edge of beyond. Now, a new member has joined the crew — the always popular Kevin...
  • The Fall of Deadworld » Tainted (part 6)

When Judge Dredd and Psi-Judge Anderson first travelled to the Dark Judges’ home dimension, it was a barren graveyard known as DEADWORLD — an entire planet had been murdered at the hands of the creatures for whom all life is a crime. But how did the end begin? How did Death and his butchering brothers start their systematic slaughter of their world? And for an ordinary family, how can they hope to survive...?
  • Brink » Brink (part 1)

The early 21st century, and through environmental catastrophe and industrial overload Earth has been reduced to a uninhabitable wasteland. Mankind finally evacuated the planet in 2075 and millions were housed in a number of habitats, the human race crammed into these artificial worlds, living off synth food and nudge drugs. In this pressure-cooker environment, all manner of communities and sects find a home...
  • Aquila » Charon's Mercy (part 6)

Following Spartacus’s failed revolt against his Roman masters, his rebel army was crucified. Amongst these was the slave-turned-gladiator AQUILA, who cried out to the gods for vengeance — and was answered by Ammit the Devourer, a deity that gifted him with immortality in return for keeping her fed with evil men’s souls. Now, Aquila wants to be released from Ammit’s bond, and is hunting for clues to her location...

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
