The authors:

Laurentiu Butuc was currently resides in Constanta, Romania, where he was born. He graduated from the Popular Art School 4 years ago, studying the basis for drawing, but he's been self-taught professionally. He's displayed work at the Amfora Galeries in both 2008 and 2009, as well as the City Library in 2010. He's been constantly publishing works in Comics Magazine, Helion, SF Gazette. He's got 2 authored albums - New Strange Stories and Mephisto Reborn.
Laurentiu also works as a freelancer in animation and video games. He's worked with Studio 3D Walker, FinalFrontier and Samsung.
He's specialized in traditional drawing, digital and 3D as well as animation, using Adobe Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, Zbrush and After Effects.
Marian Mirescu studied Literature in this birthcity of Craiova. He was a French teacher until 1990, working as a journalist ever since. He's made his comics debut in the local students' magazine - Comunist Message - in 1983. He has subsequently written comic stories for children and teens, for Mini Today, but also Orion, Prichindel, SF Journal, Carousel, Helion and Rahan, as well as the Ramuri and Anticipatia anthologies.

He is the edtitor of the fanzines Ah, BD! and Sanki, both from Craiova. Marian is also a promoter for young Romanian talent. Outside of Romania, he's contributed to the US fanzine Attic Witt in 2003 and 2004, and to the polish Anthology Starouarzzz in 2006. In 2008 he wrote the script for Dracula, a comic story that was drawn by Cristian Pacurariu.

These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
