Brotherly Love

Blood lines create bonds between brothers connecting them on the deepest of levels.  But in time, these bonds can be torn apart through anger, jealousy and in the worst cases... bloodshed.  When an extremely delicate and urgent job comes knocking on Brimstone's door, the head Borderhound is forced to make a serious decision.  This edition of Brimstone and The Borderhounds answers the age old question, "Am I my brother's keeper?"<o:p></o:p>

Welcome to the rest of your life.

You've met your fate, you shuffled off this mortal coil, you've bought the farm; simply speaking....
you've died.

Physics dictates that energy cannot be destroyed just changed, so we are born, we live, we die and then what ever remains of our consciousness surfs the subspace corridor, known as the Nexus, until it is plucked out and remanded to whatever existence your sorry butt got chosen for.  A choice made long before you ever exited your mother's womb.  Whether it's Hell, Heaven, Valhalla, Nirvana or a number of competing factions; everyone that has ever died, ever, in any world in our universe goes somewhere.

Those unlucky enough to end up in "Hell" are brought to a city where the powers that be have bought into our myths and have created a large corporate empire for the sole purpose of obtaining and containing the most precious commodity known, Souls.

Souls that arrive here, the ones that don't get plucked by other competing realities, are processed and sent to containment facilities to be put into the slave labor force.  And just like any third world country on the closed border of better places, where there is only the rich elite and the extremely destitute (i.e. most souls that end up there), there is a considerable black market operation for smuggling souls out of "Hell" and back to their respective points of origin or to a higher paying competitor.

It's a dangerous business and one misstep could put you in the crosshairs of the elite independent border patrol units tasked with the sole mission of keeping "Hell's" precious cargo inside its miles high walls.

The Borderhounds.

One such team of retrieval experts, code named XiBalba, are led by the Hell/Human hybrid hound extraordinaire, BRIMSTONE.  He and his loyal companions, the brothers DAWG and LUSCIOUS, roam the wastelands looking for their next big score to keep them on top.  But many dangers lurk in the wasteland.  From the indigenous monstrosities that wait for their next meal to rival Borderhound Squads looking for bragging rights, the XiBalba team has to always be on guard from all enemies, from without and from within.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
